Guest guest
Last night, I made and ate some SCD almond flower muffins, and had a stomach ache afterwards. It was not like the stomach ache I get with the crohn's and acid reflux. Those usually hit isolated locations. The stomach ache I got last night hit my whole stomach in a general way, and was not localized. I suspect it had nothing to do with the Crohn's and something to do with what I ate. The ingredients were baking soda, eggs, almond flower, vanilla, and olive oil. I have had almonds and baking soda many times, and never got that sort of reaction, and vanilla is in tons of stuff. The only new ingredient I can think of is the olive oil. I have never had olive oil before, as I switched over to it for the SCD. Has anyone here ever gotten a stomach ache from Olive Oil? Guest guest
how long are you on??? as you start scd and add things - stuff that you thought were ok will reveal themselves!besides that almond flour hits my stomach like a brick so that could be it - but try both separate 3-5 days apart and keep a diary to see which is the culprit - after you feel ok of course :-) > > Last night, I made and ate some SCD almond flower muffins, and had a stomach ache afterwards. Guest guest
28 years ago, I did. I had a violent onset of IBS, CFS, loss of many foods and whole food groups. One of the " whole food groups " I lost was any kind of fat or oil, for quite awhile. When I was able to start getting some back, olive oil is what I was able to work into the diet but it did cause me some trouble for awhile. I think it was just getting used to any oil at that point. I had to take it slow. Then that was my only fat until I discovered the diet almost a year ago and now i'm very grateful to have almond oil, lots more nuts, CO and butter. Perhaps you just had too much at once, would also be a possibility. Last night, I made and ate some SCD almond flower muffins, and had a stomach ache afterwards. Guest guest
Me too! After the intro diet, I had problems adding fats into my diet. I was making the " chicken bread " recipe from pecanbread and it was making me feel not so hot- it was the olive oil. I seem to be fine now... it was just in that first 6 months that I was really sensitive to it- also butter. But for some reason, small amounts of coconut oil were okay. Hope this give you some piece of mind -Joanna SCD 9/2009, Crohn's 1992, 30mg Prednisone > > 28 years ago, I did. I had a violent onset of IBS, CFS, loss of many > foods and whole food groups. Guest guest
Thank you so much, I tried eating a lot of almond butter on Saturday, without the olive oil, to see if the problem was the almonds or the butter. The almond butter had an effect on me too, but not as bad as the muffins. Although, it could be that I just had too much. I may cut out the almonds and oil for another couple of weeks, and see how that goes. I have been on the SCD for a week.
Guest guest
well keep in mind you tried alot of almond butter so when you try again try a lil bit - sometimes it's tolerated, but a lot is not. eileen > > Thank you so much, > > I tried eating a lot of almond butter on Saturday, without the olive oil, to see if the problem was the almonds or the butter.
