Guest guest
(Ms. VitaLady), do you have a canned info sheet on malabsorption and where in the digestive tract various things get digested? I think that might help everyone understand malabsorption better. I would certainly like some more detail on the subject. Barbara Jean arguments needed about Herbalife > Hi everyone, > I am cross-posting this to both groups. > I have a friend who is very, very much into Herbalife and wants desperately to get me to also become a believer. I need help here from all you knowledgable people. Now granted I know I am an extreme case....I take about 60 to 70 supplements a day as well as about 7 shakes. She tells me that I am just throwing my money away with the amount I take. So people.....send me your thoughts on this subject. I told her about all " our " malabsorption problems and she said they have a supplement that can counteract that......I need ammunition to throw back at her. And while I have everyones attention----can someone cover the whole malabsorption issue----why do we have it? And what do we do to ensure that it is not a problem. Thanks to all who will take the time to respond. > BJ in Va > open RNY 07/12/02 > 270/140/136.-------who I might add now swims on a Masters Swim Team---in a very tight, lycra, racing suit!!!!!! Why would u want to mess with it? Counteract the malabsorption equals absorb more calories, gain weight. Seems a no-brainer. Is your friend a WLS post-op? She cannot address " our " issues if she's a normie. Carol A
Guest guest
I am not but I think I remember some of this from biology class. The stomach is suppose to break the food down. Most of the food, nutrients, and vitamins that we need are absorbed in the small intestines. It is part of the small intestines that get bypassed so consequently there isn't enough small intestines to do the whole job. Now I don't know exactly what gets absorbed where. Guest guest
BJ - hope you don't mind my $0.02 - If what you are doing is working good for you, your labs are great, weight going good and all that important stuff, then I sure wouldn't mess with it. I don't know much about Herbal life, other than I've never been impressed with it, but I've also had limited experience. I just think that if you've got a routine that works good for you and your successful, then I sure wouldn't mess with success. Didn't help with your argument, but maybe it did? Guest guest
BJ - I like your sig line about swimming. I recently became a Deep Water Aerobics instructor and have not had plastic surgery. I am REALLY hanging. Could you tell me, please, which surgeries you had, how much weight came off with each one and do you have pictures? I'm at 149 and at 5'5 " I'm hoping to get to 135 and am wondering how much of my current weight might be extra skin. Thanks. Guest guest
I agree with Carol. We had this surgery to MALABSORB - so why would we take ANYTHING to counteract that? & Yes, if she is not a wls patient then she's not even on our planet & probaby cannot get it. It would seem to really be a waste of time trying to explain this to her. She probably thinks you need to absorb more & is trying to be helpful not understanding this is how we keep our weight off.
