Guest guest
First question that comes to my mind... and the group is probably tired of reading this from me ... but are you drinking with your meals? DON'T DO IT if you are. I could eat an entire subway sub at one sitting. I could probably eat two if I nibbled slowly and sipped a beverage and allowed myself a long enough eating time. The fluid does it to me. Pushes the food into the pouch and makes room for more. If I don't drink with meals I feel full and I am okay. Don't graze. Allow yourself a certain amount of time to eat a meal and when the time is up... stop eating. You will find when you walk away that you are satisfied. UNLESS you have a mechanical problem which is a whole different kettle of fish and others on the list can address better than I could. But you will not know unless you follow the POUCH RULES FOR DUMMIES. I used to think they were for immediate post ops. I used to think they were for everyone else but me. They are great guidelines. I am not perfect. But believe me they have helped me decrease my portions and stop obsessing with dieting mentality. I am losing again. Slowly but I am losing. Guest guest
When I had my surgery, my surgical reports " pouch 30 cc " . 50 cc is just under 2 ounces. 2 ounces is 1/4 cup. Now, 21 years later, I can eat about 1/2 cup in a sitting. Your surgeon should be able to tell you what your pouch size is. Get a copy of your surgical report, too. Say, you are having chicken breast for supper with green beans. Meat and veggie. How much chicken and how much veggie? I was wondering how much the pouch can hold at one time, safely, after 2 years out of surgery. I never fill full. I eat, and when I eat too much, I usually end of throwing it up. I can eat an entire six inch subway sandwich, bread and all at one time and keep it down, but just barely. But, you see, I don't want to keep doing that. What I want to do is measure my food before I eat it so that I will get just the right amount. And I don't know how much. Should it be like 4 ounces of hamburger and 2 cups of green beans? I have been on a diet recently that required me to eat, at lunch, four ounces of meat and 2 cups of salad...and for supper, 4 oz. of meat and 3 cups of vegetables. It has been very very very difficult to do this. I am hurting my stomach, and usually in pain. So, this is why I need to measure the APPROPRIATE amount of food for my pouch and then eat it. Does anybody know??? Homepage: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG Unsubscribe: mailto:Graduate-OSSG-unsubscribe
Guest guest
Try limiting meals to one cup total, or what can be consumed in 15 minutes at a normal, conversational pace. At least 3 hours between meals. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc.
