To do strictly protein is crazy. Our body needs some fats (helps

the dry skin) as well as fruits and veggies for vitamins and minerals.

My philosophy has always been protein first, fruits and veggies next and

everything else last or not at all.

My surgeon has the same protocol. The lead surgeon and his wife had the

surgery and then specialized in it. He has a huge support staff and program.

Carol, full protein has lots of fat (beef, etc.). I was unable to do this for

the

75% but it works. He must be over 5 years out now.

OK, I must have said it the wrong way. I can eat fish, and I can have nuts and

have been able to have beef since 4 weeks post-op. Yes, my doctor is a

bariatric surgeon, and very well respected. He had the surgery himself about 9

years ago, I think, and so did his wife. Most people only stay on the

protein-only for about 6 months, but I had 220 pounds to lose and I've lost 145

so far. I don't always stay on only protein--like I do have a salad now and

then and some vegtables. I wasn't wanting a debate on his protocol, just some

advice on the salt cravings and dry skin. I appreciate everyone's help. I'll

keep an eye on my iron levels and try the dry E. Thanks--

Umm, it wasn't me (tuesdynite) who wrote this about the 75%. Someone's got me

mixed up with somebody else.
