Guest guest
lt's going to be a very long summer for me. It is 74 deg. here in Indiana, almost 11pm. I have 3 fans on me, 2 bags of frozen french fries & I'm still sweating. Oh, and I'm sitting on one of those wire seats that you use in the car, for ventilation. It's not even the middle of May! At least we have a cool front coming in with highs in the 70's for the next few days, which means lows in the 50's at night. And to think I used to complain about being cold. This thermostat problem isn't life-threatening, but it sure can make you miserable. A friend brought me some chamomile for my yard today & I want to plant it tomorrow, but I dread it. It's more than just being hot & sweaty; it gets so bad outside that I often take the garden hose & just soak myself from the head down. Even my cool bands don't help anymore. I am trying to hold off on the a.c. until June; my electric bill gets so high. Okay, cover your ears, there is going to be yelling: ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Hmmm, don't feel any better. In fact, the effort to put the caps lock on made me hotter. Well, guess I should be glad I live in Indiana now instead of S. Texas. Hope the rest of you are relatively comfortable. Ramblin' Rose Hot (not in a sexy way) moderator The New Busy think 9 to 5 is a cute idea. Combine multiple calendars with Hotmail. Get busy. Guest guest
Hey Rose, you should be here, it's been cold and rainy, and we even got a couple inches of snow the other night, suppose to climb all the way to the high 60's today yea. 70 tomorrow, then back down with more rain, it doesn't help my depression any, that's for sure! I find, that if I get a little cold I am freezing, if I get a little hot, I'm on fire, my checks get red hot, more like the whole middle of my face. it's crazy, so it's hard for me to find a comfortable temp. Guest guest
Sorry to hear of the thermostat issues Rose. Here on the East coast we actually finally ha some beautiful spring weather, I managed to get the rest of the garden plants in the ground. I have never planted chamomile and it is one of my favorite teas. Is it easy to grow?? Take care & stay cool. Our homefront issues have been finding cold even on those days when we reached the upper 80's. I think it is the medicine. Take care. Guest guest
Matt, It may be the medicine making her cold, but more than likely it is that her pituatary and hypothalmus and thyroid are being influenced by the sarc. Ask that her docs run a thyroid test-- it's the easiest place to start. Another thing they can do is an abdominal ultrasound and ct to check to see if she has issues with the adrenals. Prednisone knocks the adrenals out, and they are what orchastrates the hormones. Guest guest
LOL! Bill, this is actually one of the best ideas Rosie has come up with-- but you guys may want to check with the wife before converting her favorite (and most expensive) bra. What you do is fill the bra cups with ice, then put it on your head with the cups to the sides of your ears--- and fasten it under your chin so that it doesn't "slide" off. It cools the head quickly, looks ridiculous and is very good for a laugh! Damned if it doesn't work! Oh, and we love pictures! Guest guest
Matt, last year a friend gave me a bunch of chamomile plants from her yard & I just stuck 'em in the ground. They did great & produced lots of flowers, but didn't come up this year, so she brought me some more. Hers come back. My grandkids loved going out with a little bowl & picking the flowers to make tea. I couldn't imagine how a teaspoon of the flowers would make good-tasting tea, but it did! They aren't the most attractive plant, got that wildflower look, but my yard isn't really a showplace anyway. I don't know if you've tried this already with , but on the days that I just can't get my feet warm (I have neuropathy & they hurt more if they aren't warm; I routinely wear 3 pair of thick sox), I put several pair of sox & 2-3 fleece throws in the dryer for a few minutes. I also have a big rice sock that I zap in the microwave for 4 minutes. I get all of it out & wrap it up tightly so it doesn't have a chance to cool down, get in my chair or bed & start putting on the sox & wrapping my feet in the blankets. That will finally warm my feet & keep them warm. Of course, by then my face is burning up so I have to turn a fan on my face! Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. Guest guest
The Ice Bra is actually something I rigged up while staying in a hotel a few years back. I had the room as cold as possible & a fan in my face, but still couldn't sleep because my face was so hot. I filled 2 ziploc bags with ice, but couldn't get them to stay in place, so I put the bags in my bra & tied it around my head! Got the job done. Okay, cover your ears, there is going to be yelling: ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGG GGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH HHHH!!!!! ! Hmmm, don't feel any better. In fact, the effort to put the caps lock on made me hotter. Well, guess I should be glad I live in Indiana now instead of S. Texas. Hope the rest of you are relatively comfortable. Ramblin' RoseHot (not in a sexy way) moderator The New Busy think 9 to 5 is a cute idea. Combine multiple calendars with Hotmail. Get busy. Guest guest
I will have to try this out and it will be fun ordering from the Secret catalog lt's going to be a very long summer for me. It is 74 deg. here in Indiana, almost 11pm. I have 3 fans on me, 2 bags of frozen french fries & I'm still sweating. Oh, and I'm sitting on one of those wire seats that you use in the car, for ventilation. It's not even the middle of May!
