Carol and Diane on Cost of surgery

Carol,

I can tell you more or less how much fees at LIJ will be because I

already got my bill (since my insurance is international I have to

settle all payments before surgery). Total fees for time in OR and one

overnight stay have come out to approximately $1680. Costs for

anesthesia are separate and are set by North American Partners in

Anesthesia (NAPA). NAPA's rates are $500 for the first hour of

anesthesia, $300 each subsequent hour or $75 per 15 minutes. Anesthesia

obviously gets billed after the surgery.

As for total cost of surgery and orthodontics, well I agree with Carol

because mine far exceeds the $16k mark. Think it has something to do

with being in NY. Oh well, it's all for a good cause.
