Guest guest
All, I'm 10 weeks out from Lap RNY. Overall I feel pretty good, I've not been sick, and have lost 67 lbs to date. However, in the last 2 weeks or so I've been feeling pretty tired, and have really noticed it within the last 3-4 days. I have sleep apnea but always feel better when I use the CPap machine. Has anyone else experienced this? I am checking with my doc about my B12; I've been taking it orally since the surgery, but have heard in a support meeting recently that I should be taking it by shot or under the tongue. Could that be part of the problem? Thanks for any responses! Kelley Lap RNY 374/307/
Guest guest
Kelley, I also have sleep apnea and sleeping with my CPap does help me alot. I have not had my surgery yet, but I know from research that you should be taking the B12 by shot or sublingually under the tongue. B12 is absorbed in the duodena (sp) and that is the part of the intestines that is bypassed with this surgery. Check with your surgeon, but I think that if you are low on B12 they will tell you to change how you take it. Guest guest
It could definitely be B12 Kelley, in our support group last month we discussed this as well and while they are finding that the sublingual can enter the bloodstream rapidly, there is no guarantee like the injection so even at 14 weeks out I'm taking B12 shots twice a month, checked with doc about all of this first though. Also make sure you're getting enough protein to keep your strength up. Sounds like you're doing great though, loser wise . Checking with your doctor will probably be the best so he can make sure everything's hunky dorey . Guest guest
So do I. It is best with a Centrum orange flavored chewable vitamin afterwards. It don't taste so good at 5:30 am!
