I hope you can get some answers from them.

I didn't realize that Canberra was the capital of Australia until just now, when I looked it up! I always assumed that Sydney or Melbourne was the capital. Sounds like a nice city. Are you near a beach?

Most people don't know, it's not as well known as Sydney and Melbourne, and much

smaller (population around 350,000). It's a bit like Washington DC - set aside

especially for the capital city, planned, and built relatively recently.

Canberra as a city is nearly 100 years old. In fact, the Australian government

decided to build a new capital city to stop the fighting between Sydney and

Melbourne as to which of them would be the capital! We're about a 2.5 hour drive

from the coast, so more of an inland / low mountainous region, with a lovely

man-made lake.

I don't know why they did , everyone knows Melbourne is better than

Sydney!
