Anyone out there take Metformin? I just started it today, and the

pharmacist says it doesn't matter if you take it with food or not, the

bottle says take it with food, and various websites say absolutely do

NOT take it with food, and other websites say absolutely do NOT take on

an empty stomach! Help! LoL!

I take it and Actos (45 mg.), I am currently taking 1500 mg. of

metformin- doc wanted me to take 2000 but my poor little pouch

couldn't take that much. My doc told me to take it WITH foodsince it

was upsetting my pouch so darn much. I've been doing it that way for

almost three years and my last A1c was 6.1 so it appears to be

working just fine. Also, I have to split it up into three doses with

three meals or.....you guessed it, pouch gets angry.

Thanks to you and everyone else who answered here and privately. The

consensus is to definitely take with food.

Also, welcome to all the new grads!!!!!
