Shirley,

Congrats on making it to the other side. Was thinking about you all day

yesterday. Rest up and get your husband to tell those kids to quiet

down for a bit:-) Shirley needs her sleep!

Sara, Thanks for the congrats. Your pictures are awesome. I hope you

get to leave the splint out for your trip back to Italy. Your humor and

all has helped all of us get through these challenges of surgery. Best

wishes for a great trip back to Italy!!

Shirley,

Welcome to the other side! I'm glad to hear that you are beginning

your recovery process ... and feeling well enough to check in.

One day at a time, now!

All the best,

Carol

Congratulations, Shirley! I'm so glad to hear that you made it to

the other side and that your surgery went well. Sorry to hear about

the lousy care you had in the hospital and those loud kids at the

motel. I think us medical folks have higher than average

expectations when we are patients at a hospital; when I had my right

lobe Thyroidectomy in 1990, I had a similar experience with lousy

nursing care, and I was in MY hospital too. The nurses ignored my

calls, so I got up out of bed to go the bathroom without their help,

against Dr's orders. They wouldn't let me read my chart even after I

stated my right to it under the Freedom-of-Information Act. So, I

got out of my bed and wandered down the hall to the nurse's station,

only to find four nurses socializing. I helped myself to my chart

and wandered back to my room with it. They realized some time later

that I had my chart and tried to wrestle it away from me. They

stopped only after I threatened to write them up and call the house

nursing supervisor (who I knew very well). When I told my Surgeon

(who was the Chief-of-Staff at the time), he went down the hall and

yelled at them. I think they were happy when I got discharged. I

didn't mean to be a difficult patient but they provoked me. Sounds

like you were a great patient and got some " winners " for nurses.//

Well, you take care of yourself and let us know how it's going. ~~

Diane,

They tried to Wrestle It From You?!?! While you were a patient

recovering from surgery?!?! I would have caused such drama if I were

you. That is Totally Unacceptable! Sheesh!

What a story,

Carol

Totally Diane, I think I would have wacked them with the board had I

been you. What jerks! Well you'll certainly be prepared to deal with

difficult characters for this surgery. I hope you only get *angel*

nurses however!
