Guest guest
Hello all Can someone there please give me some advise My 3 yr daughter has been on SCdiet for 2 months now. Showed a big improvmen by 3rd week. was well for 3 weeks when suddenly she started darrihea, watery. Initially it was just darrihea and now for last week and half we see blood (sometimes few streaks, patches here and there)in every second poop. We also started probiotic. Poop has gone little loose but not that watery darrihea She is only on stage 1 food + all the intro food. I am scared to give her stage 2 food, thinking what if it gets worse. Finally I have decided to give her some yougurt (almond). started yesterday. Havent seen any difference I am confused, seeinng blood every now and then, stool getting loose, does this mean NO HEALING TAKING Place??? Should i just stick with stage 1 food till she shows some improvement?? Can any one please advice What to do. Will greatly appreciate your help. Thanks Rani
Guest guest
Rani, SCD can be up and down in the first few months and first year. Stage 1 foods are fine at 2 months if she has a variety of foods and vitamins if needed. Is your daughter on any medication? Perhaps that needs to be adjusted. I would do whatever is needed for her to heal. The yogurt may be helpful- proceed slowly as tolerated. Bone broth soups also help. With a child though, I would be in close contact with her doctor. It is different with children than adults. First of all: we don't need to grow and develop, but they do- and they need extra energy and nutrients. Most of us adults could handle losing a few pounds- but not a small child. So it is important not to tolerate symptoms for long. I would also consider other factors: is she eating well, gaining weight, energy, developing well, healthy, active? I think there is also a yahoo group for pecanbread.com- parents of children on SCD that can help with advice, but seek out good medical care too. We have to be extra vigilant with the little ones, as I know you are as her mom. Hope she feels better, PJ > > Hello all > Can someone there please give me some advise > > My 3 yr daughter has been on SCdiet for 2 months now. Guest guest
This is just a thought because it happened to me. I was perfect then started probiotics (low dose) and now I am a mess. I am not sure if my problem is the probiotics but I stopped and will try much later - you might want to check that out. I can not do yogurt, either. Stick with it!
