Guest guest
I'm sorry I was so lazy- I just read all the info on S. Boulardii on GI Pro Health (duh) and came up with the following: -Take in between meals -If taking anti-fungals, take 1 hour before and 2 hours after anti-fungal agent -You can take 250-1000mg 1-4x daily -You can take it for 3-4 weeks (some Crohn's cases have been noted where the patients took it for 6 months with no side effects). Hope everyone had a great weekend! -Joanna SCD 9/2009, Crohn's 1992, 30mg Prednisone
Guest guest
Thanks, Joanna Is it o.k to take both S.boulardi and SCdophilius. This is for my 3 yr daughter. Currently, she has loose stool, sometimes it gets darrihea. Also you mentioned below that, if you taking antifungals, take 1 hr before and 2 hrs after. Is this true for Scdophiluis probiotic??? Is carrot Juice antifungal??? I do give her carrot juuice?? Any other???? Is Romaine lettuce juice antifungal too?? Guest guest
FOR RANI: Hi! So sorry... I just saw your message. As far as I know, SCDophilus is a probiotic, not an antifungal, so you could take it any time. Someone gave me the advice to just open the capsule and stir it right into your yogurt! Pretty cool, huh? As far as the S. Bourlardi goes, the website also mentions that it is OKAY to take it with probiotics- so it's okay to take at the same time as yogurt or the SCDophilus. http://www.giprohealth.com/saccharomycesboulardii.aspx I'm not really sure, but I would guess that since Carrot and Romaine juice have antifungal properties, you would want to follow the directions with the S. Bourlardi so that you take it 1 hour before or 2 hours after the juice. Kim is the real pro on this! Any advice Kim? Guest guest
Hello Any one there can advice me if Romaine Juice is antifungal. I know carrot and garlic are. Any other antifungal out there. Thank you Rani
Guest guest
I don’t believe I’ve seen romaine mentioned as an antifungal in any of my research. Garlic is, as are: ginger, onions, kale, cabbage, broccoli, hot peppers, horseradish, coconut oil, caprylic acid, oil of oregano, olive leaf extract, teatree oil, boric acid, gentian violet, grapefruit (or citrus) seed extract. Kale and cabbage are a slightly different plant family than romaine, if I remember correctly. However, you could certainly add romaine into a juice that also includes other antifungals. Remember that antifungals can impact probiotics and the gut ecology in a similar way as antibiotics can. So that you need to wait an hour or two after taking an antifungal before taking a probiotic, whether L. Acidophilus or S. Boulardii. Remember also that antifungals will impact the digestion (because the gut ecology is affected), so you need to adjust your food choices during the weeks you are taking an antifungal and for a few weeks afterwards. Stick to easy-to-digest foods, in other words. Kim M.
