Guest guest
I have made it with honey and lemon juice and garlic. I get the butcher to slice meat very thin. I then put one rack at the very top of the oven and line the bottom rack with aluminum foil or cookie sheets (to catch drips). Then I either turn the oven on very low (my old oven had a lower temp) or put in a 60 watt bulb. I hang the meat from toothpicks (the toothpick making the top of a " T " from the top rack, dangling down. I can do a LOT of meat this way. Do this overnight. The kids LOVED. Good luck. Personally I think store-bought jerky is too sweet, but I'm wondering if anybody has made it without any sugar -- if so, how did it taste? > > - > > > --------------------------------- > 8:00? 8:25? 8:40? Guest guest
I use http://eatingscd.com/2008/02/08/beef-jerky/ and just leave out the liquid smoke. It tastes just fine without it if you like a spicy beef jerky. ~ Hi all -Just got my dehydrator, and am wondering if anyone has a recipe for some yummy beef jerky??? I'm hoping to avoid the liquid smoke - I don't know what that stuff is anyway, it kind of freaks me out...!!! Thanks! AMI The New Busy is not the old busy. Search, chat and e-mail from your inbox. Guest guest
I didn't know you could do ground meat jerky. Right now I have some carne asada from the butcher, which is sliced super thin, I thought it would be perfect for dehydrating, but I'd be interested to learn how to do the ground version as well! Thanks!
