Guest guest
It's a digital reading device. I got mine cuz i was running out of room for my books. My KindleDX(around $400) can hold up to 3,500 books. I got mine about a year ago and have already downloaded about 250 books. Once you have the Kindle you can download a program to also download the same books to any other device you have that can read books, too...like an pc, laptop, ipad, etc. The Kindle itself can also read books out loud to you(in computerized voice) which is really nice when you are really sick. The newest Kindle is about $139(if i remember correctly) and can hold about 1500 books. It is very lightweight and can fit easliy in a medium sized purse. A great Christmas or birthday gift to ask for. You can enlarge font size to whatever is comfortable for you. I LOVE mine! it's a must for any reader. hugs S.Life may not always be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we might as well dance! Guest guest
Rose, About a third of my books downloaded were free. Most of the new books are $9.99 ...much cheaper than if bought at the store in hardcover. There are a lot of books at $.99, $1.99 and $2.99. I guess the newer the book is the more expensive it is. When you download a book you will have it on your kindle in 60 seconds or less. You can purchase your books right on the kindle, too, or on a pc. It gives full descriptions of each book and reader comments. there is also a five star rating system, to show how well-received the book is. But it is all through the amazon account you set up when you buy the Kindle in the first place. You can also get magazines, blogs, newspapers, etc. on it. It is well worth the money spent...just for the convenience. Life may not always be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we might as well dance! Guest guest
Basically, it's 3 lines or sections, with 5 syllables in the 1st line, 7 in the 2nd & 5 in the 3rd. It doesn't rhyme. In the Japanese tradition, I think, it relates to nature and seasons; if you put haiku in your search engine, you'll find lots of info. But if you just want to have fun, or have an easy way to express yourself, go with the 5/7/5. Ramblin' RoseModerator It's not that life is so short-------It's that we wait so long to begin. Guest guest
I agree. I am downloading some of the old classics I read ages ago which are now being offered for free. I am really enjoying mine. Matt Subject: Sarc HaikuTo: neurosarcoidosis Date: Saturday, August 28, 2010, 4:03 PM I found this on the Inspire forum from FSR. Guest guest
Our world may be smaller, but have you ever noticed how many beautiful things are small...babies, birds, tiny flowers in the lawn, a smile, a star in the distance. We are sick, in pain, and extremely limited but.....I think we appreciate more, are thankful more often, and understand better what is important. Guest guest
Connie, I agree. It's kind of like what happens when someone loses a sense, like sight or hearing. Often the other senses become more attuned, and are appreciated more. You just don't take so many things for granted anymore.
