Guest guest
Some great feedback from everyone. Thanks. So, what I take from this conversation is that it may take a long time for the B-12 stored in my system to deplete (possibly years in fact- mentioned 6 years in her case, but months in some other cases) but that when it does, I may suffer a neurological problem or severe anemia and have a tough time raising the B-12 levels. B-12 is fairly inexpensive whether its sublingual or shots and you cannot overdose or have side effects from it. For those who have surgeons who do not advise their post-op patients to take B-12 (and they are out there), it would be a good idea to discuss with your PCP and certainly monitor your B-12 levels when you have lab work done. Next question for or anyone else, what is the recommended dose and how often? Daily, few times a week? Cindy in VA lap RNY 2/8/
Guest guest
I just had my labs done last week and found out that my B-12 is low - normal. My surgeon advised me to take 1000 mcg or mg (I have to look at the paperwork again to be 100% sure) sublingual once a week, and wants to recheck again in about 3 months.
