I know. THere's a similar bean that they have fresh at the markets here every year -- pink-hulled, purple eye means that I would love to try. But I've never found any information on them, and since they look like black eye peas, I apply the SCD rule of " When in doubt, there's no doubt. Leave it OUT! Now there's a ton of websites on festivals, Texas A & M made a hybrid, etc. etc. but the pink eyed are not the same as purple hulled peas. They are not related to black-eyed peas but I can't prove it. My grandparents grew them and they always said they were not the same like sweet potato and yam (illegal).
