Guest guest
hi all, just wanted to mention that terry m. [aka: 5dollarhosting.com] and myself will be doing a 5k race at Disney for leukemia and organ transplant on sept. 6 at 6:30pm. if you are interested in joining us, check out the info at the Disney sports website. the registration if $20 and of course gets you a cool t-shirt. there are a lot of Florida people on the list so join us!! I mention this because I was one who did not exercise until about 2 or 2.5yr. post op. when I found out I had osteoporosis I knew I had to do something. I started walking. I get very bored with walking on a treadmill or even if I walk outside on the same route. what kept me going was that I walked with a friend and we could vent to one another about our jobs - we walked all over town [small rural town when I was living in VA] and it was 'training' for my first 5K - which was a charity race for a dom. viol. shelter. from C'ville and I did that race together. she ran, I walked and we still finished together but not Last!! it was doing these races along with ocean kayak races when I found a competitive edge within me and have since added some weights and now aquatic classes. since moving to a warmer climate and larger city, I have come to find out that charity races are all around me. besides this Disney race on sept. 6th, I've also signed up for a 8K at riverfest in wilmington, nc on oct. 5th, heart walk in myrtle beach on oct. 11, diabetes walk in florence in march and a half marathon in myrtle beach in feb. for leukemia. so if you've never tried this sort of thing you might want to consider it. some of these races you do not have to raise funds. some you do. so anyhow - if you want more info about any of these just email me or terry about the Disney races in sept. and January. sue
