Guest guest
Hey Sandy, I'm always a wreck before seeing the GI, and the conference is stressful too. Are you cutting back to basic intro -stage one foods? PJ > > I have been getting along so well - mo meds, no symptoms. I am at work and am having loose stools and my system is rumbling. I see a new GI tomorrow (wed) plus leave for a four day conference. At this Conference last year I had diarrhea and was sick and was so looking forward to being in better shape this year and I am so nervous about seeing a new GI. This is just bad timing all the way around! > > Sandy > SCD April 5 > UC 1984 > Crohns 7/2009 >
Guest guest
Sandy,It might be the 2-3 month flare you are experiencing or it could just be nerves regarding your conference and new doctor visit. If it continues, I would drop back to intro type foods for a bit.AmeliaHusband UC 9 years,SCD 2 yearsTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Tue, June 1, 2010 5:36:41 PMSubject: I need a "pick me up" I have been getting along so well - mo meds, no symptoms. Guest guest
I am taking chicken soup with me from the freezer and all of my food with me and I am not very advanced (I wanted to take it very slow). My motel room has a full kitchen so that is a big help. I have not had much luck with doctors and seeing a new one is so stressful. I was told she would listen to me but we will see what happens. Thanks. > > > > I have been getting along so well - mo meds, no symptoms. I am at work and am having loose stools and my system is rumbling. Guest guest
I thought of it being the 2-3 month flare - first thing I thought of but I also figured stress was thrown in there! I guess I just get scared that once it starts it won't stop but I have to have faith. I have soup to take with me and bought the fixins at the store on the way home to make more on Sunday when I have time - will either eat or put in freezer. Thanks. > > Sandy, > > It might be the 2-3 month flare you are experiencing or it could just be nerves regarding your conference and new doctor visit. Guest guest
Well don't stress out over the doctor - that can actually make your condition much worse. I'm sure she would say the same, since that is conventional western medical opinion with these diseases as well. Guest guest
I've been on SCD for about a year with ups and downs, and yes, the downs are really scary. The trend- that I have heard- is that they are not so bad or as long over time. I do hold on to that. I've gone back to intro/stage 1 foods and thankfully they resolve. My own GI was not very nice to me at first but at my last visit he was. I do get sort of unglued at each follow up visit. Hope it goes well. Guest guest
I just have to add in here, that in my experience, worrying about something (including traveling, an encounter with an unpleasant person, a dinner reservation, if i eat something will it make me sick, will there be anything to eat, etc.) has the power to make me sicker than any food. I can worry myself in to a flare in a moment, and then I'm deep in a flare and can't figure out why... So prepare as much as you can for your trip (and the doc apt) and then just relax. Remember that your mind is a powerful thing! Find a way to be ok with whatever the outcome is. Good luck, and enjoy!
