Guest guest
Hi June, It's a nuisance to divide the powder in capsules but it can be done. Maybe not totally equally but close enough. However, to start with, how sensitive to meds are you? Maybe 4.5 is just fine. I AM sensitive and I started at 1.0, and although they claim this is not a viable dose, I did get help almost immediately on improved resistance to constant viral attacks as well as the wonderful improvement in endorphins. Anyhow, if you want to divide the capsule, dump it on waxed paper and shove the little piles around until the look about equal. If youa re trying to halve it, you can often just dump fairly well from the 4.5 cap into an empty gelatin cap until you have what looks about like half left in the original one. I just got my naltraxone 4.5 mg. I thought it was tablets but its capsules! I was going to start at 1/4 the dose and now I'm not sure how to do that. Any suggestions? Thanks, June

That has been recommended against on the LDN list because the naltrexone doesn't necessarily get mixed very evenly with the filler when the capsules are made, so you need to either take a whole capsule OR, dump the contents of the capsule into a small dark-colored glass bottle, like a vitamin bottle -- actually, dump TWO in, because it's much easier to measure the water you're going to add. So two capsules is 9 mg of LDN. Then add 9 ml of distilled water (or you can double that if you want to make it even easier to measure the wate; if you do, just remember to take twice as much when you do a dose). Mix it. Then suck up 1 ml's worth (or 2 ml's-worth if you doubled the water) with a dropper or small needleless syringe and just squirt it into your mouth. It's somewhat bitter, so just chase it down with some water. Keep the rest of the bottle in the fridge and use it for 9 nights until you need to make more. (Of course, if you want to you can dissolve more than two capsules at a time; it keeps for a long time; there's no worry about it "going bad.") In fact, you don't really have to put it in the fridge (unless, possibly, during the summer your house is REALLY hot).n>> I just got my naltraxone 4.5 mg. I thought it was tablets but its> capsules! Guest guest
> Sorry, just curious to know what is nattraxone used for, in what kind of > condition???>  > Thanks> Rani. People using it here, for Crohn's or colitis, are using what's referred to as low-dose naltrexone, or LDN.  It's important to refer to it in that manner because naltrexone, as naltrexone, is used at 50 or 100 mg to treat drug addiction. LDN is used not more than 4.5 mg at a time in order to induce the body to produce more endorphins, which, in turn, starts to regulate an out-of-whack immune system. That's why LDN works so well for dozens of conditions -- auto-immune-related illnesses, including various cancers, and MS, post-polio, etc. It's taken a bed time. During sleep it blocks the cells' opioid receptors for a few hours; when that blockade wears off it causes the body to produce endorphins. Endorphins play a very big role in the immune system, and people with Crohn's, colitis and a host of other conditions related to immune-system malfunction are universally low in endorphin levels -- which is a major reason why such conditions almost always cause some level of fatigue. The low-dose use of naltrexone is an off-label use, so a lot of doctors are unfamiliar with it. (But many, many drugs have alternate, off-label uses, so that, per se, is nothing unusual.) n>> >>> > Subject: Re:Suggestions for naltraxone> To: BTVC-SCD > Date: Friday, August 6, 2010, 3:53 AM>>>  >>>> Thanks guys,>> I dumped it into an empty pill bottle, added 4 droppers of fluid. Guest guest
Huh...I've been shaking it all this time. I've often wondered how well the naltrexone distributes in water. It seems like when the batch is fresh, it is very very bitter/strong tasting. But when I get to towards the last few doses, it isn't as bad.
