Guest guest
Hi Val. I also had my lower jaw extended 5mm, and am 6 days post op. I can already open my mouth about a cm, and more with th bands off, but i try not to push it. I am supprised that you still have swelling at 17 dadays post op, as my swelling has almost gone now. Therefore i think you sld probably consult ur od about the problem, although you may find that your just searching for perfection and what you consider moving to the side it not even noticable to anyone else. Hope this helps Charlotte:) > Hi guys, > > I am 17 days post op (had my lower jaw extended 5mm) and my OS told me > to start trying to open my mouth. Guest guest
Hi Charlotte, Thanks for responding. My swelling is barely noticable. It is to the point that people that know me really well know that I am a little swollen but most wouldn't even notice. I think that a tiny bit of swelling stays around for a while after, at least that is what my OS said. I am now guessing that the reason is because the muscles on one side are just a little stronger than the other and will probably even out in the end but I might check with my OS anyway. Guest guest
Honeys, 17 days post-op is nothing. I could open freely, so I'm a heckuva one to talk. But it's not unusual for people to be wired shut for 8 weeks, while the bone heals. I agree. Talk with your doc. But then do whatever he or she tells you, and try to be patient. It's tough. But try.
