Guest guest
And for what it's worth, I actually liked powerchains. For me, they helped cushion the brackets. As I mentioned to someone else, I had wire ties for all but the first month in braces, and the power chains covered up all those little stickies. Similarly, when I had some particularly obnoxious wire ties, the techs were kind enough to put o-rings on top of them, which also helped. One tip: Do check before you leave the ortho's office, and question any bracket that isn't either tied or banded in. I still have some lower teeth that try to go irregular on me because the tech didn't tie one bracket in one time, and the doc didn't catch it. It was while I was in the heavier wires, and overnight the danged archwire forced itself down and into the bracket, making a nice little V in my lower front incisors. Hurt like the dickens, too. They tied it in the next morning, but those teeth still try to go wonky on me. Cammie > Shirley, > > Thank you for your reply. Guest guest
Cammie, I second your opinion about powerchains. I love the cushion they provide as opposed to even the o-rings. I actually can't wait to get mine back on (probably next week), just for that reason. > > Shirley, > > > > Thank you for your reply. Guest guest
Is a powerchain the same thing as what my ortho calls a chain? The long connected rings? If so, I like mine much better than the o-rings, too. I feel more secure in them, and haven't had any more broken brackets since they put me in them. Guest guest
I dunno, but probably. Some docs also use a sort of diamond shaped wire lacing, which i gather is an, um, more authoritative form of powerchaining. I think the point is to strengthen the whole system, and maybe add more torque and/or pressure, but don't know, as I never asked my doc. > Is a powerchain the same thing as what my ortho calls a chain? Guest guest
Hey, you guys, there's some info about power chains on the website www.archwired.com . According to the info, power chains come in three types, and there's an illustration of them. That website is specifically for adults with braces, and I have found the info there very helpful. ~~ Diane (Idaho) > > Is a powerchain the same thing as what my ortho calls a chain?
