Guest guest
Hi , How did things go with the doctor? How are you doing? KP > > And now it looks like I have a stress fracture in the top of my foot (have just had a very active week with my daughter moving out of home and a lot of heavy housework) ... But my physio and dr today say a stress fracture is more likely, and that the pred can contribute to this, even after only a short time. Guest guest
Thanks KP - still no word from my Dr about my foot x-ray results (!!) ... maybe today? Getting a bit fed up of waiting, especially since he was the one who wanted me to have an urgent x-ray and get the report and films to him ASAP! That was on Monday! Guest guest
, I'm glad the xray was negative. How long ago did you hurt your foot? Fractures sometimes don't show up immediately, but if it's been 2-3 days since the injury it should have shown up. I never got that energy buzz on Prednisone, for some reason. I wish I would get a sustained burst of energy! My house could sure use it. I remember when I could just get in the mood & clean the entire house, thoroughly! Not any more; doing good to vacuum the living room. Well, I hope that ice & cream do the trick, along with the tincture of time. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. I gather that stress fractures often don't show up on x-rays; if it's still causing problems in a month, I guess we'll look at an ultrasound. Hopefully it will just settle down by itself though! > I never got that energy buzz on Prednisone, for some reason. I wish I would get a sustained burst of energy! Guest guest
, Glad no stress fracture. I too enjoy a great amount of energy on pred...actually have to keep things organized or else I get irritated. I am usually more laid back than that. The metal taste, yes I have had that too. My doctor put me on the Inflammation Free Diet and so far my blood sugars have been really good. No sugar, rice, potatoes, honey desserts, candy..etc. I mostly eat veggies and proteins. The sugars, pasta, potatoes, etc..actually cause inflammation - or so that is what the authors say..so I feel that it helps with keeping my blood sugars good also then I work on decreasing my inflammation - so a win win situation. Is your foot still hurting then? A bit too much, really ... I'm running out of closets and drawers to clean out and organise, but then there's The Garage from Hell to work on, LOL .... I just have to hope I get it done before I'm off the pred! > The metal taste, yes I have had that too. My doctor put me on the Inflammation Free Diet and so far my blood sugars have been really good. My GP has just asked me to go on a diabetic / low GI diet, which is close to what I eat anyway (my daughter is type 1 diabetic) ... hoping to avoid insulin / Metformin, especially since I've only got another month or so on pred. Are you getting enough carbs on your low inflammation diet? According to our diabetic educators / endocrinologists, you really need around 150 g of carb a day for the body to function properly. > Is your foot still hurting then? Yeah, it's still sore, on and off. I'm icing it once a day. Today I've got to have blood taken for about 30 blood tests :/ I wonder how many tubes they'll take - I might beat my own record of 10 at one sitting! xo > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > And now it looks like I have a stress fracture in the top of my foot (have just had a very active week with my daughter moving out of home and a lot of heavy housework) ... Guest guest
Ha - I actually have organized my closet now by style of the clothing and then color...I am so proud of it...think I may give tours. We call our garage...THE BLACK WHOLE...my spouse has been working on that though. I also have other spots that need cleaning and guess I am up to the job now. Hope your foot is feeling better. What is the weather like in Austrailia now? I am in Wisconsin, and the nights are getting colder 40's to 20's and the days of late are in the 50's and 60's. Fall leaves are almost off the trees and crunch below when walking on them.
