Guest guest
Hi, I'm wondering what type of oil people use for homemade pecan butter? I was thinking peanut oil? But wanted to see what other people have used, which turns out the best flavor wise. Thanks, Ellen
Guest guest
Alyssa - So you just blend them up to the right consistency? Do you roast them first?EllenTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sat, June 19, 2010 2:10:40 PMSubject: Re: pecan butter I'm wondering what type of oil people use for homemade pecan butter? I was thinking peanut oil? Guest guest
I don’t use any oil with pecan butter. What I like to use is a few walnuts with the pecans – I lightly toast the pecans & walnuts in a skillet on the stove then process them in a mini Cuisinart. It takes a bit of pulsing and pushing the nuts back down onto the blades but eventually it turns to a creamy paste. Guest guest
So far I've always used almond oil, which is very bland. Horrible things happen to me with peanut anything, alas. Guest guest
Alyssa - So you just blend them up to the right consistency? Do you roast them first?I just stick em in my cuisinart! No roasting or anything. It doesn't even take that long, really. Guest guest
Thanks! I just made it with some walnut oil and I put a little too much oil in, kind of liquidy though...should've just stuck with your plan! It was pretty cool seeing it turn into pecan butter, small pleasures....and I made SCD ketchup too today for the first time! kind of fun too, and a work out for my arms :)To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sat, June 19, 2010 8:22:16 PMSubject: Re: pecan butter Alyssa - So you just blend them up to the right consistency?
