Guest guest
Thanks to both of you for your responses. Am also posting this to the board bcuz I need feedback on any side effects others may have experienced. Seems I read someone had had significant weight gain they attributed to taking the elavil. Does anyone out there have and info to share on this? I did take elavil when I was diabetic. I gained about 30 lbs in 3 mos, but I was also put on insulin and an oral diabetes med at the same time as the elavil, so can't pinpoint if it was just the elavil or if it was contributory or what. I DO take ALA, 800 mg a day, have done for a couple of years. I can't say it's done anything to help improve my neuropathy, and it even seems to be getting slowly worse. But I'm afraid to stop taking it, in case the problem might accelerate if I quit the stuff. I buy it at Wal-Mart, just under $6 for 60 caps, about a week and a half's supply. Maybe it's not high quality, since it IS cheaper by far than the stuff I see in the health food stores, and that's why it's not doing much??? Also been taking 2600 mcg biotin for about 2 years as well. Seems to have helped my nails, but not my hair or neuropathy. Haven't tried the evening primrose oil, as we malabsorb oils/fats and figured it would probably be just a waste of time and money. Is it the e/p oil the studies have been done on? Or the whole regimen of e/p oil, biotin, and ALA? Carol A ------------------------------------------------- To: <A HREF= " mailto:tuesdynite@... Guest guest
I just stopped taking the Elavil after gaining 9 pounds in 2 weeks. I'd rather deal with the chronic pain in another way. Besides messing me up mentally (because of gaining the weight) it will mess up my body too. To me it's evil! Tigger Re: Elavil, neuropathy Thanks to both of you for your responses.
