Guest guest
Well, I don’t use any commercial juices that are from concentrates, so I make most of my own juices. I decided that I just didn’t trust any manufacturers, and I wasn’t happy with the unknown effects from using concentrates. So I make my own. Elaine, or others in the SCD community, have checked on some juices, and these are the ones that are permitted. s tomato juice is one. I am not sure if it was made from concentrates when Elaine looked at it, but Elaine felt the manufacturer was reliable. I can’t help but remember that manufacturers change formulas/recipes and suppliers frequently, so a lot can change in a year or two. That’s why I made the choice to make my own juices for the first five years on SCD, regardless of the brands that are considered OK for use on SCD. Now I can handle a commercial orange juice (not from concentrate) and a commercial cranberry juice (not from concentrate), so I don’t have to make all of my juices. But I waited to try them until I knew my gut ecology was stable again. On the other hand, we all pay attention to our body’s signals, so if we start developing worse symptoms, or new symptoms, we start testing any foods or drinks added to our menu within the past week or two. So if you notice a reaction to ’s tomato juice, then you don’t use it again for a while. Kim M. I messed up with husband taped down to quick on steroids last wk and put him in a mess for two or three days in there. Also, soaked lentils 12 hrs rinsed water many time cooked 6 hrs on stove. He ate maybe 1/4 cup if that. only on diet 2 months ,I am being overly careful . Thank-you I am beating my self up pretty good here. Keep in mind that healing isn't linear -- that is, you don't steadily get better with no backsliding. It's two steps forward and one step back, and two steps forward, and one step back, and three steps forward and two steps back.... and you feel as if it's only steps backward, but you HAVE come three steps forward in all that! It's hard enough when you're cooking for yourself and make a mistake. It's even harder when someone else has a problem because you might have slipped up. Always better to ask, especially at the beginning. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
