I had open surgery--there is no way that I could do checking now and

I am 6 weeks out. Maybe at eight weeks. If they let you do the 10

items or less line you might handle it.

I feel really good--but when I start doing alot af bending and

lifting, I get real tired and sore quick!!

I had open surgery and was back to my desk job at 6 weeks. Probably

could have gone back at 5 weeks. However, I don't think I could of

handled checking full-time. Maybe you can go back on a part-time basis

with light duty.

Oh, and you also should wear some kind of abdominal support if you're

going to do much lifting.

Hello ,

I had open surgery.....I was out of work for 5 weeks I could have gone back

after 4 but decided to take the extra week to make sure I really was

healed....From the moment I went back to work I was fine.....And for the first

time since working here (I have been here for 4 years) I could run up and down

the stairs....And let me tell you run up and down I do!

me 7 long years to get the position I wanted. Very slow turn over in

my job. I am excited about the surgery but I also want to get back

about this yet. I just wanted some of your perspective I guess.

Thanks M.

Thanks Kathy, I will be sure to do that. But I guess

I better not rush it. It should be slow during the

months I will be out anyway! I better just take good

care of myself it I want to get back to work as soon

as possible.

Lisbeth,

Thats wonderful! I can't wait to be able to do my job

without hurting as much as I do. Maybe instead of

going home after work and vegging just so I could do

it all over again the next day. I can go for a walk

or play with my dog more...:)

Yes you are going to have alot more energy...and you will definitely be doing

alot more stuff...I think of the DS like a pea that rolls down the snow-covered

mountain...you start out doing very little...but once you get your momentum its

like wow.....Before surgery I would limp through the week and recuperate on

weekends.......I used to wake up at 11-12 in the afternoon on the

weekends....Since surgery...I wake up the same time everyday....and once I am

awake that is it....I CAN NOT lounge in the bed its weird......I am up by 7 and

I have to do something...before I know it...I look at my clock while I am

outside and I will notice its 5:30 and I will complain where does the time fly

LOL.....So yup you will get the energy....Life is good....

Same here, Lisbeth! Isnt it something how your internal clock changes after

surgery? I only require 6 hours of sleep a night now compared to 8-9

before!

, I think there has been a revision for almost every type of RNY

surgery. Things happen. Do you know if your stomach was stapled or

There are food charts out there that have analyzed various foods for their

nutritional breakdown -- vitamins, protein, carb, fat, etc., based on a standard

serving size (which they will disclose).

There are books on the market -- one example: Amazon.com: Books: Bowes &

Church's Food Values of Portions Commonly Used that you can purchase.

Also, there are some web sources, for example, the USDA has an EXTENSIVE

database -- Search the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference

which gives you the breakdown. For example, that cup of asparagus has 5.199

grams of Carbohydrates, of which 2.814 grams are fiber (did you also know, or

want

to know that it contains .777 grams of Ash and .121 mg of gamma Tocopherol?)

This is the database upon which most all of the other books/charts , etc.,

out there are based.

Carol, this is not a conversion chart, but you can search for each

nutrient either by food alphabetically or by gram count. I hope it's

what you're looking for.

I found a little book at the checkout at Safeway awhile ago. It's called Sugar

and Carbohydrate counter. It's great.!!

Tina (jelly bean toes) & Sheriff too!

Question?

Does anyone know where I can find a chart that converts liquid

measurements to grams? IE..A cup of Asparagus would equal how many

grams of carbohydrates?

Thanks,

Beth,

Thanks for that link, and thanks to the others that answered me

privately. I sent you some pictures from Tahiti as you requested

but I am not sure if you got my email. I know AOL at times rejects

emails with large attachments.

Please let me know :)
