Guest guest
Diane, Depends, but I would have someone to help for at least the first week. Usually, you can't drive while still on the narcotic pain meds. It also depends how the surgery went, etc. I've been so weak I knew I couldn't drive for a while. A blood transfusion helped some. I had to see the surgeon a few days after release from hospital and today I see him again (a week since last visit). Today is day 12 (post surgery) and it's the first night I was able to get a fair night's sleep, so feel now maybe I will heal faster. This surgery took more out of me than I thought it would. I would allow for help for two weeks after surgery. By then, you may be up to handling it on your own. Of course, your surgery isn't probably going to as extensive as my surgery, but I'd still allow for help that first week. Maybe you can get a friend to help you. If I lived closer I'd be glad to come out and help you. Do you have a church group or others that might be able to help? Shirley
Guest guest
Diane, It was at least 2 1/2 weeeks before I felt well enough to drive (I had seroius sleep deprivation though) but my surgeon told me that I could drive as soon as I was no longer taking any narcotics for pain...ask your surgeon.
