Anyone know? Ceep, Cytomel is usually dispensed in micrograms (millionths of a gram), and Synthroid in milligrams (thousandths of a gram). I take 10 mcg (0.01 mg) of Cytomel daily and 0.05 mg (50mcg) of Synthroid. Who knows why the powers-that-be decided to do it this way... just to confuse us (and our doctors), I guess. B. Guest guest
Hi , Yes, I'm sure. :-) My 0.05 mg of Synthroid is actually considered a very low dose, so I think you probably take .125 milligrams (mg) of Synthroid -- not .125 micrograms (mcg). Although .125 mg isn't really a high dose either ... that's a pretty common replacement level for people with moderate hypothyoridism. As I mentioned, it's so silly the way different meds are dispensed using different units of measurement...it's no wonder we get confused sometimes. B. > Are you sure about the synthroid?? Guest guest
I don't take sythroid, but my dog and mother do. My little 20 lb. Dog takes 0.2 mg twice a day. I don't know what my mother takes, but it's high. I order Sunny's from a vet pharmaceutical company, and standard dosages available are up to 0.6 mg. THAT is high. I've been hypothryoid for 19yr. twice they have tried to take me off of it and it was disasterous!! I function better when the dose is higher but my labs always run low and most docs freak about the labs rather than my symptoms. I dread having to break in a new doc in the next few months as I'm afraid they will try to lower my dosing based on labs. I had my last doc well trained. sue
