Guest guest
I got my four extractions Fri. but haven't really gotten my appetite back, and was hoping for some tips. Maybe what foods taste best when put through food processor etc.? Only so much ice cream, applesauce etc. I can take. I got some Gerber's Graduates (for toddlers) that has some fruit/veggies in it, but I need some soft food ideas for this week. Thanks! ~Joanne
Guest guest
Hello Joanne - So, you're getting bored with ice cream, applesauce, etc., huh? Actually, Macaroni and cheese and/or any type of pasta dish worked great for me when I had my wisdom teeth out a few years ago. Also, yogurt and any of the creamed soups (cream of mushroom, or celery, or potato) are good too. Hope this helps. / Diane > I got my four extractions Fri. but haven't really gotten my appetite > back, and was hoping for some tips. Guest guest
Try mushed scrambled egges either on their own or make some chicken broth and throw in a raw egge while the broth is boiling. The broth will cook the egg and it's nice and soft. > I got my four extractions Fri. but haven't really gotten my appetite > back, and was hoping for some tips. Guest guest
Hi Diane, followed up w/ my OS yesterday and went back to the ortho this morning, and he put new wires on my teeth to start moving the front part of my teeth back to fill in the holes...ouch! Thanks for the food tips, that's pretty much what I've been doing. How are you doing? ~Joanne > Hello Joanne - So, you're getting bored with ice cream, applesauce, > etc., huh? Guest guest
Hi Sara, How are you feeling? I know it's been a rough time for you. I'm not really an egg person. I've been eating pasta, soup, yogurt etc. The holes have healed nicely, but the orthodontist changed my wires this morning and now I'm back to ouch again. I'm able to eat much more now though. ~Joanne > Try mushed scrambled egges either on their own or make some chicken > broth and throw in a raw egge while the broth is boiling. Guest guest
Hi Joanne Glad to hear the holes closed up nicely but sorry about the new wires. Hold on tight, the pain will pass in the next few days. Sorry about the egg suggestion! I usually am an egg person but for some reason I've gone off eggs too now that I'm post-op. The one thing I am craving is a toasted bagel with butter on it and that is the one thing I can't eat! Oh well, at least I'm craving something. Try drinking a glass of wine to help relieve the pain of the wire change. Guest guest
Well, Joanne, I'm doing the waiting game - I go into the OD on the 21st to hear his treatment plan for me, and then I have to wait four weeks until July 18th for my Orthognathic Surgery consult with my OMS, Dr. . When I made the appointment last Thursday, his receptionist (a very nice gal named Carolyn) told me that she would put me on his " cancellation list " , and she'd call me when someone with an hour appointment would cancel. She told me how much he is looking forward to the consults with me, and to be patient as someone will cancel. This waiting is just about killing me; I just want to get all this started sometime soon. I was hoping to be in braces by mid-July. If I have to wait til July 18th, the consults will be done in their new office. She told me to make sure that I bring all the stuff from the OD's office, including molds, cephalometric and panoramic xrays, and the pictures. Then, I will make another appointment for two weeks later so he can tell me what he plans on doing to me surgically. I already have a pretty good idea what he will need to do - definitely a BSSO set-back procedure plus a possible LeFort I. My OD told me that I have a 5mm overjet, which Dr. will need to set back a total of 7mm. So, here I sit waiting, trying to be patient LOL!! Thank you for letting me vent.//How much longer do you have before your surgery? What exactly will they be doing? How many holes need to be filled in, just the very front? I have a gap between my front two teeth, but I heard that gaps close pretty fast, so we'll see. Keep in touch, okay? -~~ Diane --- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " jpulaski129 " <jpulaski129@y...> wrote: > Hi Diane, followed up w/ my OS yesterday and went back to the ortho > this morning, and he put new wires on my teeth to start moving the > front part of my teeth back to fill in the holes...ouch! Guest guest
Hi I've been talking to my OS since February, at which point he was optimistic at getting the whole process underway by May. But it takes soooooo long to get appointments. I finally got to meet my OD on Friday, just for a preliminary chat, few photos and measurements, and will see him again in September I guess, as the very first stage is to get my wisdom teeth out, which is happening July 30th. So I guess I'll be lucky to get braces on by November! It is extremely frustrating, as with a process that takes so long anyway I just want to get started. Still at least there are few of us in the same boat! > > > Hello Joanne - So, you're getting bored with ice cream, applesauce, > > > etc., huh? Guest guest
Hi Sara, chewing thru the pain because there isn't much I can chew without pain. The glass of wine won't work either...I don't drink at all! :)That's pretty funny. OTC meds help some. Thanks for the message about the osteoporosis. I've actually gained some bone and have held steady, but both my OS and OD are aware of it, and I'm sharing my concerns w/ them. ~Joanne > Hi Joanne > > Glad to hear the holes closed up nicely but sorry about the new wires. > Hold on tight, the pain will pass in the next few days. Guest guest
-Hello - Welcome to the " Waiting Game " group! Just curious: what do you have - underbite, overbite, openbite, crossbite, --- ? I have an underbite. When do you think you'll be getting your surgery? Looks like you and I will be going thru this at the same time. I'm supposed to have braces for 12 months and then have the surgery sometime next summer, if I get braces on by August. I know how frustrating it is to wait. Write back when you can! ~~~ Diane- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " susan " <suzan72@y...> wrote: > Hi > > I've been talking to my OS since February, at which point he was > optimistic at getting the whole process underway by May.
