Guest guest
, How wonderful that your hubby has such great improvement! I'd say, if he needs the meds right now, take them. Many of us have to at some point, particularly the first year or so. It will be fine. I might suggest he look into LDN for the immune system, though. It is a good complement to the diet and a lot of us do both, though you may have to hunt a bit to find a doctor who will prescribe it. The gastro guys don't seem to be very with it in that regard. My husband has been doing the SCD diet for 4 months and it has been like a miracle for him!! He was diagnosed with Crohn's disease 6 years ago. He has had 2 resections, 3 srtictureplasties, an abcess,a fistula and probably more stuff I can't remember. He has tried sulfazalazine, endocort, prednisone, imuran, remicade, humira, methotrexate, and tysabri. Nothing has worked for long. Some have actually made things worse. In Feb. he ended up in the ER with pain and a 104 fever from inflammation. That is when he started the diet. He now has mostly normal bowel movements and no pain! He is off of all medicines and feeling good. Well today he went for a colonoscopy. It was the first one he has had since his resection a year ago. Many parts of his colon looked normal, but there were some parts that showed colitis and he has a partial blockage with active disease in that area. The Dr. wants to put him on Imuran and Cimzia ASAP so that his blockage does not get worse. Should he go back on meds? Will the diet keep working if he adds meds? If he takes immunosuppressants, can the diet still heal his immune system? Thanks in advance for any advice. I really appreciate the this yahoo group.
