Guest guest
I had open RNY and I wasn't allowed to lift more than 5 lbs for at least 6 weeks also. Also wasn't allowed to sweep, mop that sort of thing. Of course that hasn't bothered me too much...lol. Just becareful, you won't want to do anything to set you back. You aren't allowed to lift more than 10 lbs until 6 weeks post-op for RNY Lap. I don't know about Open. (per my surgeon's office) I know you do not want to teach him how to crawl out of the crib, but you can't be lifting him. Can you find other acceptable sleeping arrangements for him? As for the car, the only thing I can think of is for him to climb into the carseat. Good luck, Janet
Guest guest
He's a good climber, but we have not encouraged any climbing into the crib. I saw at daycare yesterday that they have some steps for the changing table so that is definitely an idea. I could have a sturdy step stool that could move from the changing table to the crib. Naptime is the only time I am worried about lifting him in/out of the crib (daycare is only half days so naps are at home). Bedtime and morning time would be no problem as my husband will be there to do those. Husband could come home at lunch time and put him down for his naps as well. I do let him climb into the car sometimes, but then he wants to climb in the front and play around. Probably just having hands on him to guide him where I want would be helpful. The other times for carrying him are when he doesn't want to go where I need him to go. I'll take his hand and then if he doesn't want to cooperate, he goes limp. Bending over and dragging him by his arm sounds like a bad idea. We need to start practicing now. I have been having him walk up to his room at bed time. I think I'll go and look for a step stool that he can use for his bed and changing table. Thanks for your ideas! Caryn > Caryn, Can he climb? Guest guest
For my surgeon if we had it Lap, we couldn't lift over 15 lbs for 6 weeks and for open it was 3 months..
Guest guest
I think it is six weeks also. Could you set something up that with your helpful hand he could climb out of bed. Like maybe lower the rails and set the kitchen chair or step stool beside the crib. Make it a game for him and you both will zip right through the weeks without too much stress. B.
