Guest guest
Sara, You got me worried now because I am donating 1 unit of blood one week before surgery & my OS is not requiring that I take any iron supplements. Is he trying to kill me or what? (haha) > > I went to my OS today. Guest guest
Oh no ! Didn't mean to scare you. Honestly the thing about when to draw blood pre-op is up for debate among doctors and even among members of this board. Some say at least two weeks before hand others say it doesn't matter. I am sure your doc is not trying to kill you and if you're not anemic or borderline anemic you have nothing to worry about. I have really low blood pressure, the bottom on my eyeballs are practically white (this is one tell-tale sign of anemia) and pass out sometimes (including when blood gets drawn from me...boy am i looking fwd to having all those tubes sticking in me during surgery) so the iron tablets not only help build my iron but also calm me down psychologically. What ever....at the end of the day your surgeon knows what he's doing, I'm sure. Sara > > > I went to my OS today. Guest guest
I feel better now..(haha) Actually my blood pressure tends to run low, but not all the time. I am sure if my surgeon had any concerns he would let me know. I have to go see the cardiologist on June 7th because I have a heart murmur which my doctor stated he would feel better if I had it checked out since the surgery is over 3 hours. So I now have added another appt. to my list. Anyway, I agree with you in that our surgeons know best, so I will leave it in his hands! (They better know best since they are slicing our jaws wide open..haha) > > > > I went to my OS today.
