Guest guest
We live in Pennsylvania, My insurance is from Blue cross Blue Shield from NJ since i work in Jersey. I am currently exploring the social service agencies that might help as well as beginning to see if jenny can get Medicaid since she is getting Social security disability income. It just gets so frustrating having to do all this leg work on your own. I am getting worn out from all of this. Guest guest
Matt, should qualify for Medicare if she's been disabled and on SSDI for 2 yrs. You can start applying even sooner-- especially since her disability is so dibilating and since your insurance thru your employment doesn't cover her for Long Term Care. The other thing is that in addition to Medicare is that she may well qualify for MediCaid-- the State's program. My heart goes out to you- and I do understand how exhausted physically and emotionally you must be. Are there any advocate programs that help assist with these issues. In California we have Passages-- Your local MediCaid Social Worker may know of the names of an advocacy group that can assist you. The local hospital Social Worker may also know of alternative programs-- that go beyond the normal processes. Guest guest
Thanks so much for the information. The latest is that she has fractured her wrist while in rehab. It just never seems to end. The meds are all screwed up at the moment & it is causing further issues and complications. Hope all are as well as they can be.Darryl From: tracie feldhaus <tiodaat2001@ yahoo.com>Subject: medical enemasTo: neurosarcoidosis@ yahoogroups. com, " Bettis" , "Skot Stribolt" <Skotsteven@sbcgloba l.net>, Robosan (AT) sbcglobal (DOT) net, "June Wittwer" <mzwitt01 (AT) yahoo (DOT) com>, "Trea" <goldybear1 (AT) aol (DOT) com>, dfeld@..., " Feldhaus" <patfeldhaus@ gmail.com>, "a Hulen" <PHulen4763 (AT) aol (DOT) com>, "Kathy Kirkley" <kkirkley (AT) bresnan (DOT) net>, " and Bagwell" <blnkr2 (AT) YAHOO (DOT) COM>, "Carol Witt" <cwitt (AT) stringbead (DOT) com>, "Tina Wheeler" <kamimuki (AT) aol (DOT) com>Date: Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 11:49 PM A Strange Old Tool Do you know what it is? Guest guest
How on earth did she break her wrist? Are her bones brittle, or did they push the therapy too hard? I'd want to know how it happened. How is coping emotionally with all these setbacks? God love her, it must be very discouraging. You know, my first thought on reading that she was in the hospital/rehab was that at least you could get a little break from caregiving. Then I remembered when my mom was getting so weak from Alzheimer's, and I had her at my house (which I had just moved into). Some of my friends suggested I go ahead & put her into a nursing home, that it would be easier for me. But I realized that it would actually be harder. With her at home, I could do things around the house, clean, unpack, etc., & check in on her every few minutes. When I needed to rest, I'd go in her room, put my feet up & read to her, watch tv, whatever. If she were in a nursing home, I'd want to be there nearly all the time to make sure she was taken care of. I wouldn't be able to get anything done around the house. So my point is (yes, Ellen, I do have a point) that the obvious thought isn't always the most accurate. Just for the record, is it any easier on you right now? Sending some prayers & positive thoughts from Indiana. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. Guest guest
Thanks for the good words. It happened because evidently her meds are not acting properly. They had her on Depakote when her Re-intro to Keppra went bad. She was highly agitated. She is now being weaned off the Depakote and back onto a low dose of Keppra and evidnelty had a problem and banged her arm / wrist against the bed rail breaking her wrist. She has very little meat on her bones. For a person who stands 5'6" she is down to 98 pounds. I think they need to adjust the meds she is on to balance out with her weight but I keep getting from the rehab people that the therapeutic level is supposed to be. I have finally asked them if a 300 pound man would get the same as a 100 pound man. What is making this so frustrating is that because the illness has affected the speech centers as well as mobility and processing it is most difficult for her to make herself understood as to what she needs. As for me I now am worried that putting her into rehab was a mistake, although deep down I know she was not ready to be home since she needs to have intense therapy to try to help her regain some of her balance etc. The running back & forth to the rehab is also wearing me down. I am taking tomorrow out of school....Yes we have 1 week to go just so I can sleep late and then try to do some paperwork in an effort to get assistance. Hope all are as well as they can be, Take careMatt From: tracie feldhaus <tiodaat2001@ yahoo.com>Subject: medical enemasTo: neurosarcoidosis@ yahoogroups. com, " Bettis" , "Skot Stribolt" <Skotsteven@sbcgloba l.net>, Robosan (AT) sbcglobal (DOT) net, "June Wittwer" <mzwitt01 (AT) yahoo (DOT) com>, "Trea" <goldybear1 (AT) aol (DOT) com>, dfeld@..., " Feldhaus" <patfeldhaus@ gmail.com>, "a Hulen" <PHulen4763 (AT) aol (DOT) com>, "Kathy Kirkley" <kkirkley (AT) bresnan (DOT) net>, " and Bagwell" <blnkr2 (AT) YAHOO (DOT) COM>, "Carol Witt" <cwitt (AT) stringbead (DOT) com>, "Tina Wheeler" <kamimuki (AT) aol (DOT) com>Date: Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 11:49 PM A Strange Old Tool Do you know what it is?
