My son is on SCD - he also needs to gain weight. I thing that SCD baked goods is the best way to get your calories since they have lots of butter and nuts. It really depends what you can tolerate but some cheese dishes and cheese sauces would help. I calculated calories for what my son eats daily - this is where they are coming from.

Hey, I have been on the diet for 3 months. I lost some weight when I got sick and then again when I started the diet. I wonder why I cannot put on any weight. Do not know what to eat to gain weight. I read that this diet is adjusted to gaining weight, but for me this does not seem to be the case. Does anybody have the same problem with weight gain? Thanks!

Hello,I started this diet 5 months ago, and like you I had lost weight from being sick, and then lost more weight when I started SCD. Now I am back to the weight I was before I got sick, so it's possible to gain weight back on the diet. At about the third month I started gaining weight, by the fourth month I was a reasonable weight. It would depend a lot on how well your body is healing and what you ailment is though, I would think. Here are some suggestions:

Warmed apple sauce with butter is yummy.Put butter in your broths, or don't skim the fat of the top of the broth when it cools.Eat Avocado, it's high on fiber and fat, but generally easy to digest, just be careful.

Cheese, cheese, cheese :)Make your yogurt with half and half. ~

Post what and how much and when you are eating -- then we can help you

figure out what to add or switch out.

Maybe the problem with me is that I still do not eat everything on the diet. I

am slowly adding foods because I used to have reactions with different legal

foods (like almond flour) in the beginning of the diet. These days I started

eating almond flour, so I think the healing is happening no matter that it is

somewhat slow. I still do not eat whole nuts (maybe some walnuts only), but I

generally eat what you all are talking about. I eat avocado (in soups because it

is otherwise too bland). I eat the soup almost every day. I slowly started

eating almond flour/walnut flour cakes/cookies. I also eat smoothies made of the

SCD yogurt with strawberries and honey. I eat a lot of peanut butter from time

to time. And I eat lots of, lots of meat. I love meat, but I guess meat does not

help in gaining weight. I eat huge quantities of food! And cannot figure out why

I cannot gain back my previous weight. Or at least the weight I had before I

started the diet. I am generally a skinny person so maybe this might make things

harder, but I definitely eat more food than I did when I was healthy. Maybe I

should keep on pushing with the way I do the diet right now and wait to add more

foods.

Thanks for your comments!
