Guest guest Posted May 26, 2005 Report Share Posted May 26, 2005 Hi Sara A probiotic is sort of the opposite to an antibiotic, in that it replaces the good bacteria that the antibiotic removes, especially if it's a strong antibiotic. The probiotic also protects the lining of your stomach from the antibiotic. My doctor prescribed the probiotic for me because it was the second course of antibiotics I was taking in a short time.
