Guest guest
I read somewhere that this surgery requires catheterization. Is this common? How many people have had that experience? Is it painful? I'm a little squeamish about this.
Guest guest
Been there, done that. I didn't know about it until I was in the OR. Right away I got panicked. I was embarrassed and uncomfortable. It wasn't inserted until I was completely under. As I understand it, it depends on the length of the surgical procedure and the amount of strength you will have post-op. My surgery was almost 5 hours long so the catheter was necessary. It was kept in post-op for about 20 hours. I was nowhere near up to walking - let along going to the rest room on my own. So, that way, it was one less thing for me to worry about. A nurse removed it - and it wasn't painful at all ... just a little embarrassing. I hope that information helps. Take care, Carol > I read somewhere that this surgery requires catheterization. Is this > common? How many people have had that experience? Is it painful? > I'm a little squeamish about this. Guest guest
This is really common to be done with any surgery. It is usually inserted after you are under anesthesia, and you will not even remember it happened. I hope this helps! Fran > I read somewhere that this surgery requires catheterization.
