So far I've made pecan butter and cashew butter in my food processor (haven't tried almond butter yet). My experience is that it takes a while, and you have to keep scraping the ground nuts down the sides, but eventually it will turn creamy. Mine has never reached the kind of creaminess you get with store-bought nut butters, but it is at least spreadable.

Has anyone made almond butter in their food processor? I have just bought one and was thinking I would give it a try with blanched almonds. Any advice?

Thanks,

Has anyone made almond butter in their food processor? I have just bought one and was thinking I would give it a try with blanched almonds. Any advice?I could never get it to butter with just raw blanched almonds, but after soaking them and then dehydrating them they turn into butter very easily. Keep in mind that Elaine didn't recommend soaking nuts if you didn't have a good way to dehydrate them because mold could grow. Don't give up! It takes a while to get them to turn into butter once you blanch them and start grinding. I like to roast mine in the oven at about 115 degrees for about 10 minutes, until a few of them start browning. Makes it taste more like peanut butter.
