Guest guest
Welcome to the group! In my experience, the closer the surgery came - the more nervous/anxious/excited I became. It's a good thing to talk about it on this site - because the advice and support you get are from people who have all been through the same thing. Good luck! -becky > Hi everyone! > > Congratulations to all of you for having the guts to go through with > this (or even plan on going through with it)! Guest guest
Fay, Welcome to the group! I'm about 4 1/2 weeks post-op from upper/lower surgery. Keep asking questions and keep reading! That's the best advice I can give. Best of luck as you move forward! Guest guest
Hi Fay Welcome to the group. I am one day post-op from an upper le forte which sounds like part of what you will be having. I had a piece of bone removed from above my gum line to allow for the jaw to move up. It all went well. I also suffered from a short upper lip so can relate to what your doctor is saying about you. My doctor also told me that my nose would probably turn up more. Right now it's still pretty swollen but the biggest difference I have seen is that my nostrils are larger something he had also warned me about. I will be posting a post-op picture for you to check out under SARA. Best, Sara > Hi everyone! > > Congratulations to all of you for having the guts to go through with > this (or even plan on going through with it)! Guest guest
LOL well I didn't want to spend too much time in the mirror, but i did notice that my nose is turing up! LOL I think it looks kinda cute and your nose lengthens as you age so maybe I'll look younger. My doctor also told me that my nose would probably turn up more. Right now it's still pretty swollen but the biggest difference I have seen is that my nostrils are larger something he had also warned me about. -a bunch of that is swelling too...you never know how you'll end up for a while! Guest guest
Hi Sara! Thank you so much for replying! I have read that you are in pain and I hope that settles down soon. I can't believe that you are one day post-op and you are replying to my little anxious self. I am very grateful. Yes, I think that I am having the Leforte. I spoke to my surgeon after I posted yesterday. He said that I would have have a very good result whether or on I did both jaws. He said I wll get the most out of the lower, and did not absolutely have to do the upper. However, although the upper will not make as dramatic of a difference, it would definitely contribute. He can only move the upper 3-4mm, whereas he will move the lower 10mm. Heal well, Sara. Wishing you comfort and sleep.
