Guest guest
Becky, that is so weird that you posted about your drainage; I just awoke ( in pain) after sleeping thru the night (went to sleep around midnight, so last tylenol/motrin was around 11 p.m.) and am 6 days post op. My right nostril has slightly yellow drainage and the LEFT one is still clear. When i first blotted the right one and saw the yellow, I thought, " that's weird, it's been clear for days " . Then blotted the left and when it was clear thought, " that's REALLY weird! " So here you are with the reserve notril drainage? Perhaps you live in a different hemisphere? Is it national " opposite nostril drainage day? " LOL I'm gonna call my OS later and see what he says. I am still on the Amoxicillin. Yesterday I went to the OS and he put on the bands (I had popped mine in the hospital from puking) I had been thinking " this ain't so bad, I can eat mashed potatoes, etc. " Now I am banded TIGHT! We stopped at the store on the way home and loaded up on soups. The s Pizza individual serving is pretty good. Has these small pasta " o " s so it still had to go thru the blender, but overall ok, especially since my beau was eating pizza. BTW: I used the line " this is my SHREK impersonation " at the OS office and got a good laugh from the staff. So, thanks to whoever originated that one! I'm thinking it's because 1) I got banded and strained to talk more, so increased the circulation/strain to the area and the blood flow and this is just drainage. 2) general healing process 3.) not infection as no odor or bad taste. I'm certain it will be fine. On the insurance topic. Mine was thru COBRA, United Health and this was the LAST MONTH of coverage. Had to switch to an individual plan since the COBRA laws only applied to employers with 2-19 employees for 6 months here in Texas. Federal law kicks in at 20 employees, some states enacted " mini-cobra " laws and require smaller amounts of time for smaller employees. My premiums were around $470. Found an individual plan thru a United subsidiary for $275. Exclusions of maternity (not a problem for me) and a $1,500 deductable, which is fine, cuz I only need it for major stuff. On the chronic pain topic. I may have mentioned before acupuncture. I was a doubter until I went to an open house at a school of oriental medicine here in Austin, Texas a couple of years ago and they did a demo on me. I had chronic right elbow pain due to doing stained glass and nothing I did made it go away. The instructor did ONE 15 minute treatment and I've been pain free SINCE. Firm believer now. To the point of having thought about going down there now, post-op and see what could be done. I've got new respect for my ER pt's pain now. Trust me, I'll be giving pain meds out in triage now! And I always gave IV morphine slowly, due to the potential nausea effects, after experiencing it first hand I will be giving it twice as slow. Nothing like experience to make you more compassionate. Allowing someone to take care of you topic: this has been incredibly difficult for me throughout my life. I've been the caregiver. (bad-made-for-tv-movie childhood involving foster care/abuse, etc) DEEP trust issues. I have to consciously tell myself that it is ok for people to take care of me. It is actually a gift you give someone to allow them to care for you. Think how good it feels to care for someone else, I enjoy the satisfaction I feel when I know someone is better off due to my presence. So, all of us over-achievers, sit back, let the family show you their love. They know how much you've done for them, allow them to give that gift back to you. OK, I'm gonna take my tylenol/motrin, have a BIG glass of YUMMY Texas water and go back to sleep. I'll call the dr. later. Hugs!
