Dandelion root is illegal. It contains latex, a polysaccharide.

<snip>

---Parts Used Medicinally---The root,

fresh and dried, the young tops. All parts of the plant contain a somewhat

bitter, milky juice (latex), but the juice of the root being still more

powerful is the part of the plant most used for medicinal purposes.

Elaine approved black tea, green tea (in moderation I think),

and mint tea, all diluted at the beginning of the diet.

Most roots have polysaccharides in them, and are not legal as

teas.
