Sometimes, it's needful to reduce the frequency of doses while your system is getting over the shock of being re-balanced. You might consider going to the 1/3 to 1/4 cap ONCE a day for a week or so, then try adding in the same amount for a second dose and see how that goes. If all goes well, then maybe go to half a cap once a day and keep the 1/4-1/3 once a day for a week or two while you see what your system thinks of the situation. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
I also was not able to handle a whole capsule of s boulardii when I started and had to drop back to ¼ capsule to introduce it. All I a can say is that you will know when it is time to up your dose by your symptoms and how you are feeling. My reaction was extreme bloating and constipation, so when I had taken the 1/4 capsule for 5 days without any more of those symptoms, I knew it was time to increase my dose to ½ capsule, and then eventually to ¾ capsule. I found I only needed 3 days to adjust to the ½ and ¾ capsules, so I was able to introduce the higher doses more quickly than my initial dose. Then I read a suggestion by Mara about taking the s boulardii in the middle of the night on a completely empty stomach. I don’t sleep through the night anyway, so I figured I’d give it a try and I do think I am getting the best results from taking it then. I don’t think I’d recommend setting an alarm clock for the middle of the night to take the s boulardii. Getting adequate rest is almost as important as eating right to help heal from IBS, but if you are up already in the middle of the night you might try taking your s boulardii then. Felt great. This morning I woke up- sore back, achey joints... took another 1/2 caplet before breakfast and within a 1/2 hour I was RUNNING to the bathroom with liquid D. W O W Z E R S. I forgot what die-off felt like. So I am thinking of reducing to 1/3 caplet tomorrow morning. Assuming I can handle 1/4-1/3 caplet, how long would you guys take this before trying to up it again? Off to take an epsom bath... -Joanna SCD 9/2009, Crohn's 1992, 22.5mg Prednisone
Guest guest
Thank you so much for the input everyone... I tend to run with the " More is More " crowd which gets me in trouble a lot So that bring me to another question... for the most part it seems that people use SB for only a month at a time. How much time do people " take off " before taking it for another month? I have high hopes for SB and just want to be sure I implement it so that it's most effective!
