NO you are not going bonkers, You need a NEW Doctor, any Doctor threatened by information you bring in, is not comfortable in treating this, or just an A--  if you know what I mean. That is just crazy what he said, I would said you are not tolerating the Pred.  and the numb tongue anxiety, I've never heard that, and I've been in the medical world for 32 years.  I think you need to find a new doctor who will be willing to get you off the Pred. and started on some of the other drugs.

I don't do well with Pred, it just makes me crazy, like I don't know what I'm doing, I really feel like I'm losing it, so I don't do it.   Hope finding another doctor is an option for you. Marla

I saw my doctor today and seems like the 100 pred is starting to get to me (remember I have been taking it for almost 1 month)...I have to have a fast blood test tomorrow as my neck and face have started to swell up and my blood sugar non-fasting was 171. He is irritated with me as I brought some of your ides, messages or medical journal information to him. He told me anyone could be writing those and really didn't want to hear about any of it. And when I mentioned going to the NS convention sponsored by the Sarcoidosis Research Center in November - he told me most of those are money makers no real science just people out to get my money. He said now with the internet patients are getting all kinds of information - not necessary sound information. Also, can anxiety cause my tongue to go numb? That is what he told me that I am being anxious over everything and the numbness is caused by anxiety?

Hi,

Thanks for the support - looked up my face stuff and found out it is moon face

that I have. I am trying not to be depressed...as I look weird. My doctor could

have told me that is what it was instead of acting like mmmm...

I am working on a second opinion and found out it the second opinion is

neurological related I will be able to see a specialist at the Mayo Clinic which

will be in my HMO in Nov.

So some good news anyways.

Ditto what Marla said. I thought alot of my old pulmonologist, but he would not hear of other treatments. I changed to one my neurologist recommended; she is a heaven sent blessing.

I have been a Physician for close to 25 years and the guy you are seeing is a pompous asshole. Feel free to tell him I said so. Any Doctor who does not listen to their patients and their problems should not be in practice. You need to find another Doctor tomorrow, do not wait another day. If you have any trouble getting your records let me know and I'll give you the laws that tell him he has to.

Do not put up with his crap another day. Call or write if you need help finding someone else.

Thanks for the laugh. I have names of other neurologists in my area and need a

2nd opinion to be able to see a specialist at the Mayo clinic (per our

insurance). So, I will be able to see what another doctor has to say - also

looking for someone who will not just blow me off.

Ask the butthole, if he's ever heard of the MAYO CLINIC, which is where alot of the information is recieved from, if he hasn't heard of the mayo clinic, then ask him about Hopkins! I wasted 5 years of total hell because I didn't want to believe that my physician at Vanderbilt a teaching hospital wasn't up to date on the current treatment. I was STUPID!! I left about 4 years ago and I found a group of doctors that actually listened to me and what was going on with me and my body... Thank God, I would still be so sick I couldn't get out of bed most days... having myoclonic tremors and jerks so bad I couldn't keep food in a spoon to feed myself.. I am now for the first time in 9 years in remission.. and this is the place (remission) that I would like to see all of us in..

DO NO STOP THE PRED BY YOURSELF!!!!! DO NOT!!! THAT HAS TO BE TAPERED AND ONLY A PHYSICIAN NEEDS TO DIRECT YOU HOW!!!!!

Honey you'll be sicker than you've ever been if you taper that and with that high a dose, it can cause you're blood pressure to skyrocket.. and can even cause stroke or death...

I've been where you are, with the obnoxious physician, and I'll tell ya there are some site that are worth staying away from.. but this isn't one of them..

They had it all set up so that I had to go on insulin because high doses of prednisone raise your blood sugar so dramatically. Most especially when I had the solumedrol. I am still trying to get off the insulin but at least I can control my blood sugars and I went to a diabetic clinic to learn about nutrition and how to give injections.
