Hi Jaimi

You should go see your dentist 1st and then have them to refer you to the

surgeon, if needed. Or else go book an appointment with the surgeon's office

in person. On the phone, you probably won't get much answered. It's just how

it is. :-|

I was told that it's no big deal to get rid of a screw, if it is

working its way out -- or if your bone is receding and leaving it

out there, hurting.

As in, a trip to your os's office, some office anesthesia (which

will leave you loopy enough to need a driver) and popping it out.

I hope that's the worst of the troubles you'll have from it. But

yep. Call your os and find out what's really happening.

And don't put up with that " I'll call you back, " if you don't hear.

Keep trying. Use whatever makes you comfortable: My spouse took the

phone off the hook so I could rest. Our phone has been out of whack.

We were disconnected. Whatever. Or show up at the office, or the

emergency room, if you keep getting no satisfaction. I'm a believer

in not putting up with inattentive answering folks. And in telling

the docs why I pitch a fit, from time to time. No excuse for

ignoring a hurting patient.

Jaimi,

Sounds to me like you'll need to get that screw taken out. Several

people have been known to have to get their hardware out post-op and

from what I understand generally the operation to do this is much

less painful and intrusive and yes, your insurance should cover it.

I would call your doctor AGAIN, and again and again! Explain to the

secretary that it's an emergency otherwise you wouldn't be calling

after 2 years. This is no time to be shy about pestering someone,

especially if you're in pain. And if this darn doctor doesn't get

back to you then go see someone else. Crikey, a loose screw sounds

PAINFUL!!!

Keep us posted on how it goes.
