Guest guest
My homeopath put me on Nordic Naturals Arctic Cod Liver Oil, liquid From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of Arjonillo Sent: Wednesday, August 04, 2010 10:04 PM To: BTVC-SCD Subject: Soya Oil Hi, I’m and a new member to this group. My daughter is 1 month on SCD. She has been taking cod liver oil for the last three years. I just discovered that it contains vitamin E extracted from soya oil which is included in the illegal list. If I stop the cod liver oil, any suggestion on the possible replacement? Thanks.
Guest guest
Hey Alyssa, when do you take that? First thing in the morning before eating? Do you find it makes a difference if you are having it on an empty stomach or not - as recommended?I didn't know you were supposed to take it on an empty stomach!! Where does it say that? I take it with food. Also - for anyone who has used both - do you feel having the fish oil/butter combo really makesa difference or not? I have no idea because that's all I've ever used...I do eat plenty of butter though so I might just get the fish oil next time =) Cheers!Alyssa 16 yo UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)Azathioprine 75 mg 1x per dayPrednisone 12.5 mg 1x per day (trying to wean!!!!) And as Dr. Price discovered, always take CLO with High Vitamin Butter Oil for maximum effectiveness. Also - for anyone who has used both - do you feel having the fish oil/butter com! bo really makesa difference or not? Guest guest
That's quite odd. I would call them to see what they are talking about. I'd then ask Green Pastures. So much conflicting data out there. Jodi > > > > > > >> Hey Alyssa, when do you take that? First thing in the morning before eating? Guest guest
I got butter oil capsules, though I'm kind of like Alyssa here, I use so much butter at the moment that I wonder if I need the more concentrated form? I've just figured out my best plan yet to get the FCLO down. I was chasing it with something sharp like a pickle. But that still had time to coat my mouth. I found rather by accident that what works even better is to have a couple of bites of something already in my mouth and then take the FCLO, the food manages to grab it so you don't get that undelicious taste. Even something as bland as chicken bites work for me. I'm determined to make this work now as i know it's good for us. I definitely take it with food! This is not a taste treat I want between meals! > Hey Alyssa, when do you take that? First thing in the morning > before eating? Guest guest
How long does the oil last? The site said that a bottle of capsules has 60 servings, while the gel has 96 servings. Guest guest
But the capsules are considerably cheaper - so I guess it all works out to about the same. and the dose is two capsules a day. Guest guest
You are right, I probably should, and maybe when I finish this I will. But what with several protocols going, I have about twenty caps and tablets to take per meal and it's really too much, so I try to find things NOT in caps. why not get the capsules then, instead of planning strategies on how to consume the teeny amount of the disgusting food taste? I'm anaphylactic to soy, and I can tolerate both. In my case, it's the soy protein which is an issue, and soy protein is also the problem for SCD. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
Hi Marilyn, Thanks for the info on vit e extracted from soya/soya bean oil. I was just wondering how does vit e extract become legal if the source is illegal? Thanks, 7-yr old daughter on SCD 2 months

I was just wondering how does vit e extract become legal if the source is illegal? Well, first of all, when I first started on SCD, soy oil wasn't illegal. It was made illegal because some brands of soy oil still had small amounts of soy protein in it because of improper processing, and some individuals -- mostly children on Pecanbread -- reacted to that. But the process of obtaining Vitamin E completely removes the soy protein. It's just oil. <smile> Consider: MILK is illegal. But BUTTER, which is derived from milk, is not SCD-illegal. Same principle. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
