Hey everyone

I don't post here very much (though I'm pretty addicted to reading

the posts haha), but today was a big day for me and I just wanted to

share that with some people who would really understand!! I got my

braces off today, just 5 months after surgery :) I was originally

told 2 years total, and today it's been 19 months, so I'm pretty

happy with that, especially since I'm now going on a 4 month trip to

the UK. Now I get to go with just my retainers!! :) There's just

two things that are bugging me: my retainers are wire ones, that I

have to wear continuously for the next three months... It's got me

down because I was so excited to have no wires over my teeth, only

to find out that I still will. Also, one of my teeth got hurt in

the surgery I guess, and it's looking like it will need a root

canal. I know after having jaw surgery a little root canal is not a

big deal at all, and that a lot of other people need to get them

too...it just seems that after all this I shouldn't need any more

dental work. Anyhow, I'm sure tomorrow I won't care nearly so much,

but I find it's really mentally hard with this surgery, because at

the outset I just expected and hoped everything would turn out

perfect...I've already come to accept that I'm left with lip

incompetence which I'd hoped surgery would cure, and also a chipped

tooth as a result of the surgery, it's hard to realize that now one

of my teeth is dead from it too. :( They are all really little

things, and I know it, but it just gets to me anyhow..I'm sure I'll

feel better about it all tomorrow, in the meantime, sorry for my

rant, and thanks for listening!!

Congratulations !! We had surgery around the same time. I

am almost 5 1/2 months post op (upper, lower, genio). You are so

lucky. I have no end in sight with my braces. I am still having

the same problems and worse headaches every day now from my left

TMJ, none of my teeth line up and/or touch except half of one when I

bite down, midlines still off, still sore and numb in places. Are

you still sore, hurt anywhere?
