Guest guest
Hey everyone I don't post here very much (though I'm pretty addicted to reading the posts haha), but today was a big day for me and I just wanted to share that with some people who would really understand!! I got my braces off today, just 5 months after surgery I was originally told 2 years total, and today it's been 19 months, so I'm pretty happy with that, especially since I'm now going on a 4 month trip to the UK. Now I get to go with just my retainers!! There's just two things that are bugging me: my retainers are wire ones, that I have to wear continuously for the next three months... It's got me down because I was so excited to have no wires over my teeth, only to find out that I still will. Also, one of my teeth got hurt in the surgery I guess, and it's looking like it will need a root canal. I know after having jaw surgery a little root canal is not a big deal at all, and that a lot of other people need to get them too...it just seems that after all this I shouldn't need any more dental work. Anyhow, I'm sure tomorrow I won't care nearly so much, but I find it's really mentally hard with this surgery, because at the outset I just expected and hoped everything would turn out perfect...I've already come to accept that I'm left with lip incompetence which I'd hoped surgery would cure, and also a chipped tooth as a result of the surgery, it's hard to realize that now one of my teeth is dead from it too. They are all really little things, and I know it, but it just gets to me anyhow..I'm sure I'll feel better about it all tomorrow, in the meantime, sorry for my rant, and thanks for listening!! -
Guest guest
Congratulations !! We had surgery around the same time. I am almost 5 1/2 months post op (upper, lower, genio). You are so lucky. I have no end in sight with my braces. I am still having the same problems and worse headaches every day now from my left TMJ, none of my teeth line up and/or touch except half of one when I bite down, midlines still off, still sore and numb in places. Are you still sore, hurt anywhere? > Hey everyone > I don't post here very much (though I'm pretty addicted to reading > the posts haha), but today was a big day for me and I just wanted to > share that with some people who would really understand!!
