Guest guest
Hey Val, Did you ever have your teeth banded where you couldn't take them off? My surgery was 6 days ago, and are banded tightly. My tongue feels scuzy because I can't brush it. I'm hoping to get them off Wednesday, but I'm not sure.
Guest guest
Hi, Yeah my teeth were banded so I couldn't take them off until a few days ago when I had an appt with my oral surgeon and he said I could take them off just to brush which is really nice because my tongue was so disgusting. You can try to open a bit and kind of push your tongue out from in between your front teeth and brush the tip of it, that helps actually. My biggest problem now is just feeling really uncomfortable when I take my bands off, almost like my jaw is just going to fall off or something, it is the weirest feeling. Good luck with your recovery! > Hey Val, > Did you ever have your teeth banded where you couldn't take them off? > My surgery was 6 days ago, and are banded tightly. Guest guest
Val, Don't worry, the weird feeling is normal and it does get better in that eventually it feels natural to not have the bands on. I'm 6 weeks post-op and am now only wearing the bands at night time. I have to confess, the other night I went to bed and forgot to put the bands on but my OS told me that at this stage they are just on for precaution so missing out on one night is no tragedy. Keep up the good recovery! Guest guest
Hi Sara, I'm glad to hear that it is all normal. I think part of my problem is that I had a deep bite so they couldn't position my teeth until after the surgery so right now none of my teeth fit together so I don't really even have a " correct " place to bite down, it just feels uncomfortable everywhere. I'm seeing my orthodonist tomorrow so I will ask when the orthodontics can start back up. I'm really lucky in that my orthodonist and oral surgeon worked really well together and we all had meetings together and I felt really secure about everything going into it. When I got home from the hospital there was a huge bouquet of flowers waiting which I assumed was from my parents or my boyfriend but nope - from my orthodonist's office! =) Anyway good luck with your recovery - I will be happy when I can just wear my bands at night too.
