Guest guest
Mira I washed my hair the morning of my surgery (Wednesday), and then I didn't have enough energy to wash it until Saturday. My hair definitely needed to be washed, but I think that I over did it that day.I probably should have waited until Sunday or Monday because that longer shower almost made me pass out. > Hey all, > > A few of you were talking about hair appointments, > this is one thing I've wondered, how easy is it WASH > your hair after the op, I mean do you guys shower etc > as normal? Guest guest
Mira, I had my surgery on a Thursday (washed my hair that morning) and then was home from the hospital on a Saturday. I managed to get myself into the shower on Sunday. I was exahusting lifting my hands over my head. I have very long hair, so it takes some time to wash it all. I made sure to have my Mom sit in the bathroom with me - just in case. Every few minutes she would ask if I was okay and I'd hold up the " thumbs up " sign to let her know I was. I'd say by my fourth shower (Thursday, maybe) I was showering solo. I hope that helps, Carol > Hey all, > > A few of you were talking about hair appointments, > this is one thing I've wondered, how easy is it WASH > your hair after the op, I mean do you guys shower etc > as normal? Guest guest
my surgery past-experience has taught me to keep the shower short and slightly colder than i normally like it. and make someone is around to hear you. you could get dizzy and you will be standing up more than you typically do - but it will feel amazing! i washed my hair 2 days post-op, no problems. well - i did get a little too much gel in one spot, so maybe putting product in is a little trickier ) compared to other surgeries - it really doesn't hurt that much for me. it's uncomfortable. my nose is stuffed. my cheeks keep getting hooked on the wires. but it doesn't hurt. yesterday my upper lip started coming back to life - and was tingly - but not really painful. i saw my mom have a hemmoroid surgery a couple years back - and i'm pretty sure that was a million times more painful ) good luck and it will be fine! -becky > > Hey all, > > > > A few of you were talking about hair appointments, > > this is one thing I've wondered, how easy is it WASH > > your hair after the op, I mean do you guys shower etc > > as normal? Guest guest
Mira, I had surgery on Monday and on Wednesday washed my hair for the first time. The only thing is to make sure that you have someone at hand to help you out just in case you start to feel faint. Also, I started off by washing my hair in the bath and then rinsed with a 'light' flow of water. You don't want a heavy jet hitting you on the jaw by accident. Guest guest
Sara, That's a really good point! For the first month or so, whenever I took a shower I kind of rinsed my face through my hands. I didn't let the water hit my face directly. I was worried that it would be too hard and either I wouldn't be able to tell because of the numbness or I would and it would hurt! Now, I pretty much wash it like normal ... but I'm still really aware of the water pressure and am careful.
