Guest guest
Hi Everyone, My name is and I'm new to this group. I live in northern Alabama. I had my surgery Oct. 20, 2002 and when I had my year check up my doctor was not pleased with my progress. I had only lost 77lbs in a year. Imagine the defeated feeling I had. He told me that my window of opportunity was quickly closing and I basically had only 6months left. I'm sure he was using this scare tactic to get me moving and to wake me up but I will honestly tell you it almost defeated me completely. I thought to myself " gosh, I'm even a failure in this WLS. " Needless to say though, it did wake me up to become more concious of what I was doing. Alittle back ground here: This past year has NOT been the best for me. I was going through a divorce after 20yrs of marriage. My weight had gone up to 342. I only had a certain period of time to have the surgery done on the insurance because I wasn't sure of my benefits after the divorce. My divorce became final in June and well I sort of hit bottom. Went on a " pity " vacation and well I didn't pay much attention to me and my health. I found, as silly as it sounds, but bananas and lo-carb bread with peanut butter became my buddy. Yes, I have all the excuses of why I failed but the real truth is I just didn't care. Gosh, that was hard to admit. Well since that check up I have dove into this thing. I have recommitted myself to " succeed " in this journey if it kills me, nah, not really kill me, but I want to succeed at it. So for the past two weeks I've gotten back on www.obesityhelp.com (my profile is H. in Alabama) and updated my profile. Then I've started to arm myself with more information about what I need to do to get back on track. I've begun to join more information loops like this one and have made my plea for any and all help and information that I can use to help me win this battle. I've stopped eating bananas, even though they are in my kitchen, no bread or peanut butter. I'm getting more information on the kinds of protein shakes I need to take to get my protein in. I've joined this group to learn your wisdom and hear your successes. I look forward to learning more about you all. 342/265 10/30/
