Guest guest
I don't know if this is what you had, but I had one IV, which was used to administer antibiotics and other fluids. That one was installed the night before surgery. The other one was installed after I was safely under anesthesia, and was actually an arterial gas monitor, used by the anesthesiology staff to see what my blood gases were. If they put it in while you're awake, it hurts like the devil... My mom had to have frequent tests of blood gases to see that Medicare would authorize her use of oxygen, and I always found that particularly cruel. There she sat, gasping for breath, and they'd have to stick that danged needle into an artery. This one was out before I came to, thank heavens. The IV was removed sometime the morning after surgery the day before. Cammie > > > Hi Sara!!! > > > Nice to be on this side! Guest guest
Cammie, your poor mother! how cruel. Yes, it's them 2 needles I had and they took them both out when I was wide awake. Both bled pretty badly but to be honest I was just glad to get them out. What ever they were pumping through them was doing a real number on my arm.
