Guest guest
Hello Everyone! I just joined thr group a few days ago. I suppose that I forgot to edit my preferences because when I opened my YAHOO! account it said I had 289 messages! You are a busy bunch! = ) Finally edited the preferences! Let's see. I joined the group for a support system. I had my surgery in Phoenix, I live in Las Vegas, and although the surgeon and his team are great, they are not here and not really available for me to talk to when I feel like I have a " stupid " question. My info is as follows: I had the surgery on July 14th (open RNY). At the date of surgery I was 259, 5 " 10 " (yes, I know, it sounds ridiculous for me to have the surgery, but I had MAJOR comorbidity factors and a horrible family history to boot!). To date I am 226 lbs and off of all of my medications. I feel really good, and was back at the gym two weeks ago. I go five days a week and do cardio for now. This week I started a Pilates class that is three days a week. I was worried at first about Hernia, but I seem to be doing okay. It is a great strength training excercise routine for me. I do about 40 minutes of cardio after the Pilates class. I made a conscious effort to maintain a physical fitness routine for about 8 months prior to the surgery. I think it helped me SO much in my recovery. I was also fortunate and had a surgeon with little hands so my incision for a open RNY is only about 2.5 " , amazing. I am so excited to be amongst friends here. Noone knows about the srugery unless they have had it. At this point, knock on wood, I have had a phenomenol recovery and am a total advocate of the surgery provided the time and circumstance are right. Excited to be here!
